Cancellation Policy

When you book, you'll see up to two rate options for your room and dates:

Free cancellation (Flexible) — cancel free of charge up to the deadline shown at booking. You pay only the first night as a deposit today; the balance is settled at check-in.

Best price (Non-Refundable) — our lowest direct rate, paid in full today. It can't be changed, cancelled or refunded — that's the trade-off for the best price. This option only appears when your check-in date is at least 21 days away.

Whichever you choose, the room price already includes 6% VAT (IVA). The only separate item is Lisbon's city tax (see below).

Plans still taking shape? The Flexible rate lets you cancel free of charge up to the deadline shown on your booking and in your confirmation email.

For the Suites, that's up to 5 days before check-in. For the Apartments, it's up to 14 days before arrival — a little more room to move.

You pay only the first night as a deposit when you book; the remaining balance is charged at check-in.

If you cancel after the free-cancellation deadline, or don't show up, the full price of the stay is charged.

To cancel or change a Flexible booking made directly with us, just reply to your confirmation email or contact us at lisbon@cheese-wine.com — we'll take care of it.

The Non-Refundable rate is our lowest direct price. In exchange, it's paid in full at the moment you book and can't be changed, cancelled or refunded — including for a no-show.

This rate is only offered when your check-in is at least 21 days away, so you have time to be sure of your dates before you commit.

As with every rate, the price includes 6% VAT (IVA); Lisbon city tax is the only separate item and, for a fully prepaid stay, is collected online with your booking.

Lisbon charges a municipal tourist tax of €4 per guest, per night, for guests aged 13 and over, capped at the first 7 nights of a stay. It's set by the city, not by us, and is separate from the room price.

We collect the city tax online only for the nights you pay online — the first night on a Flexible booking, or every night on a fully prepaid Non-Refundable booking. Any remaining city tax is settled at the property, so nothing is left to sort out unexpectedly at check-in.

If a booking is cancelled within the free-cancellation window, the city tax collected online is refunded together with your deposit.

When a direct booking qualifies for a refund, we return it to the card used for payment.

Refunds are typically processed within 7 to 14 business days, though the exact time to land depends on your bank.

You'll always receive a confirmation once we've issued the refund.

This policy applies to reservations made directly on cheese-wine.com.

If you booked through Booking.com, Airbnb or another travel platform, that platform's cancellation terms apply — please cancel or change your stay through them, and any refund is issued according to their rules and timing.

Refund timing for platform bookings depends on your card issuer or the platform, so it can take a little longer to appear than a direct refund.
