Our story
It started with a single apartment
Cheese & Wine began with a simple belief: that staying in Lisbon should feel less like checking into a hotel and more like being welcomed by a friend who happens to live here.
What started as a single apartment in the old town has grown into a small family of design-led suites in Santos and self-catering apartments across the city’s most loved neighbourhoods. Through all of it, the promise has stayed the same — handmade hospitality, where every guest is genuinely known and looked after.
We bake the breakfast, pour the welcome wine, and share the Lisbon we actually love — the quiet viewpoints, the family-run tascas, the cellar with no sign on the door.

From 2014 to today
2014
The first apartment
It began with a single apartment in Lisbon, and the idea that hospitality could be handmade.
2015
The Suites open
Our first design-led suites opened in Santos, the city’s design quarter.
2016
The Suites grow
As demand outgrew the house, we added more suites in Santos.
2020
LX Lapa opens
In the middle of the pandemic, we opened LX Lapa — a concept store and art gallery of mid-century furniture, Portuguese art and plants, in a 1920s mansion in Lapa.
2021
Cheese & Wine Lapa
We brought handmade hospitality to Lapa, one of Lisbon’s most elegant quarters.
2025
The Suites, reimagined
A full renovation refreshed the Santos suites from the ground up.
2026
Building Hotel LX Lapa
Work begins on our future boutique hotel in Lapa, carrying the same handmade spirit.
